Ryarsh Remembrance Concert and Centenary Weekend, St Martin’s Church, Ryarsh, 10th November 2018

The Lord-Lieutenant will be represented by Mr Jacques Arnold DL at a Remembrance Concert being held in Ryarsh Parish Church on 10th November 2018 at 14.30.

Over the weekend of 10th/11th November, Ryarsh Parish will be commemorating the end of the 1914/18 War with the Remembrance Concert on the Saturday, followed by a Remembrance Service on the Sunday. Also during the weekend, the Ryarsh version of the “Windswept Lands and Seas of Blood” exhibition – the wall of poppies knitted by so many local ladies – will be flowing down the church tower.

At the end of the first World War, England was an impoverished  country in mourning – there was hardly a family which had not been touched in some way by death or suffering. Yet out of such national sadness, a wonderful spirit of thankfulness and hope was born.  It is this spirit which Ryarsh Parish hope to encapsulate and acknowledge in prose, poetry and music. The concert will be followed by tea in the church hall.
