Kent Choices Live 4U,13th and 14th March, 2013
The Kent Lieutenancy joined Kent County Council and Kent Messenger Group in this year’s Kent Choices Live 4U Event held at the Kent Agricultural Society’s Showground at Detling.
The Lord-Lieutenant and a number of his Deputies were at the event lending encouragement and thanking the exhibitors for attending.
The aim of the event was to give young people inspiring advice on the important choices they will need to make on deciding on their particular type of training and employment. Having left school, more than 3000 people attended over two days, including 1200 clients from Job Centre Plus on 14th March.
Industries covered by exhibitors included the IT and Gaming Industry from Encouraging Programming in Kent (EPIK), Hairdressing from the Hair Academy, Kent Police, Apprenticeships in BT, RAF and Army Careers Teams, The City Livery Skills Council, Further Education Colleges and many others.
The event took place during National Apprenticeships Week. A growing number of young people are taking up apprenticeships and Kent is leading the way in providing opportunities for young people.
Speaking at the opening the Lord-Lieutenant reminded everyone:
“We all need to achieve a high level of skills and be prepared to constantly re-train as technology and the speed of change transform our working lives”.
