Eastchurch Aviation Observance, Eastchurch, 18th May 2018

The Lord-Lieutenant will attend the annual Eastchurch Aviation Observance being held at the Eastchurch Aviation Memorial on 18th May 2018 at 12 noon.

The annual Aviation Observance will celebrate the birth of British aviation on Sheppey, and in Eastchurch in particular, and Sheppey’s significant aviation history and heritage with a parade and service, attended by members of Eastchurch Parish Council, the Fleet Air Arm Association, the Royal Naval Association, Swale Borough Council, All Saints Church, Eastchurch Primary School and the Eastchurch community.

The aviation history of Sheppey dates from the very earliest days of pioneer flying in the UK: the first aviation factory at Muswell Manor, the subsequent Short Brothers manufactory at Eastchurch and the service history of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC), Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) and the Aero Club of Great Britain AeCGB.
